contribute和attribute区别

contribute和attribute指代不同，用法不同，侧重点不同。Attribute的意思是把…归因于；contribute的意思为是…的原因之一。attribute指人或物及其地位、属性的象征；contribute指选定象征一个国家、民族或家庭等的图案或实物。

attribute用作动词的基本意思是“归因于”，指“把某事归因于某人〔某事〕”“认为某作品出自某人之手”“认为某事〔物〕属于某人〔物〕”，常用于attributesth to sb/sth 结构。

contribute可表示“捐赠，捐献”“促成，组成…的一部分”，还可作“贡献(意见、建议等)”解，有时可指“投稿”。作不及物动词，其后常加介词to。

This book contributes little to our understanding of the subject.
